Noemí Rodrigo Sabio is a Spanish visual artist and photographer based in Belgium, whose work focuses on local landscapes connected to global environmental issues.

Through her artistic practice, she reconnects with her homeland and roots, exploring Spanish nature and its relationship with humans. This research draws on testimony, collaboration with museums, and a deep reading of the land itself.

Her artistic practice is a collaboration with the landscape, a dialogue between the landscape's story and her own. This expresses itself physically, making the landscape interfere with the photographic process: sea and sand draw lines and structures on light-sensitive paper, collected materials leave their trace, the sun burns the negatives. She works with both sustainable analogue techniques and digital photography, always giving space to nature to express itself shifting the anthropocentric gaze.

"My ancestors and I have been part of this ecosystem for generations. We have witnessed the natural evolution of the landscape, as well as the effects of systemic human intervention in the land. Living far away from my homeland for over a decade, I come back and observe through my artistic work one of the most affected lands in Europe by desertification and water scarcity."

Alongside this, she weaves relationships between local communities and their environment by facilitating community art projects through arts residencies in local natural oases. These become spaces of dialogue between people and the places they inhabit. "Through my community art projects, I encourage the generations to come to connect to their environment, and continue a path toward the ecosystem rooted in mutual respect, in a world where everything is connected."
